With this in mind, JSK carries out a modest programme of working with families affected by HIV who have small children.
Our aim is to aid parents with HIV live with their children as long as possible. JSK child care staff and volunteers meet the children in their homes and help with their studies, provide personal encouragement and counselling to them. These are augmented by positive inputs from scripture and personal time with the children – and have seen a number of children blossom in very difficult circumstances.
Though most of our focus is to get family and local people to help look after children who are orphans or whose parents are affected by HIV, JSK has occassionally facilitated children to get care in institutional settings.
