Fear

March 25, 2010

One of our staff shared an important thought this morning in prayer:  we should not be afraid.

But there seem to be so many things to be afraid of.  What will happen in the future?  What will take place to me tomorrow?  Will I become ill?  Will anyone care for me?

At Jeevan Sahara we meet people every day who are going through deep challenges.  Life is tough – and then you find out that you have HIV.  Instantly everything changes.  People whom you previously wanted to confide with are now people to be wary of.  What will happen to my friendship if they find out that I am HIV positive?  What will they think of me?  What? What?

The questions in our minds can continue on and on.

But what our friend told us this morning is that Jesus keeps telling us not to fear.  Fear binds us.  It stops us from speaking.  It keeps us from thinking.  It makes us react blindly to our emotions.

We need to be free from our fears.  Perfect love casts out fear.  Trust takes away the sting of fear – and unlocks the chains that keep us down.

We know that becoming free from fear is not easy.  There is no tablet you can swallow – no simple 1,2,3 exercise you can do.

But we also know that freedom from fear is possible.  Talk to people – build trust.  Talk to God.  He wants to hear you.  Meet with people like us at Jeevan Sahara Kendra – we want to help.
